31 Mar Ryedale Foodbank helping Local People in Crisis
“The foodbank was there when we really needed it, it was an absolute lifeline.”
We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
I’m Rob and I’ve been a volunteer for Ryedale Foodbank since 2016. During the current Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic our local foodbanks are providing an essential source of food supplies for the most vulnerable people in our communities.
However, while demand is increasing, our supplies of donated food are being depleted as people are understandably focusing on maintaining their own for supplies, and only shopping for essentials.
We have been asked by some local people if there is a way of quickly and easily donating money instead of food at this time. On behalf of the whole Ryedale Foodbank team – we are extremely grateful for your support at this difficult time.

For those in Middleton Benefice who have kindly been donating to foodbank, during this time of isolation etc, can we ask that if you are able to go shopping and still feel able to donate food. Then please place your gifts into the collection boxes at the supermarkets.
Thankyou for all your help.
